Industrial Automation branch INA The major challenges facing Germany's cities and municipalities are digitalization and changing demographics. Local government has a crucial role to play in the transformation to smart cities and regions. How a municipality approaches these issues depends heavily on its individual starting position. For this purpose, Deloitte and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA have developed the Municipal Typology Model Smart City (KTMSC). The KTMSC captures the municipal scope for action in six domains:
- Environment and energy
- Administration and education
- Economy
- Mobility
- Housing and health
- Resilience and security
How far along cities and municipalities are, how smart city initiatives are positioned, and what success factors or recommendations for action there are - these are the questions addressed by the study series "Smart Cities and Regions: Shaping Transformation.
