What you do with us

 

Your tasks include:

  • Initiating own project ideas and cooperations to leverage potential in the industry
  • Analyzing problems together with process experts, assessing the quality and efficiency of the solutions developed
  • Development of mathematical models and algorithms
  • Implementation of scientific research and technology transfer projects with a high degree of personal responsibility 
  • Cooperation with industry and other research institutions
  • Project results represented to clients and through publications in the professional world

 

What you bring with you

 

In addition to a degree in mathematics, physics, computer science or similar fields of study, we require an interest in the practical implementation of mathematical optimization methods. Experience in the fields of artificial intelligence and numerical simulation would be desirable. You are interested in optimization in the field of production planning, purchasing and/or logistics.
Your knowledge lies in the following areas:

  • Algorithmic techniques: Integer Linear Programming, Dynamic Programming, Divide & Conquer, ... 
  • Mathematical Optimization / Combinatorial Optimization: Knapsack Problems, Travelling Salesperson Problems, Cutting Stock Problems, Scheduling Problems, ... 
  • Numerical simulation and validation in the space-time cylinder: finite differences and elements, multiscales, ...
  • Programming 

You have very good German and English language skills and a high degree of initiative, creativity and team spirit. The possibility of a doctorate is given.

You will publish and discuss your research results at international conferences and in industry and research committees. Involvement in academic teaching is possible. The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position can also be filled part-time. Employment, remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD). In addition, Fraunhofer may grant performance- and success-related variable remuneration components.
