Increasingly, means of transportation, technical devices and infrastructures are being interconnected, and the Internet of Things (IoT) extends into nearly every facet of public and private life. This upheaval, as well as the cultural and financial appeal of major cities, poses special challenges for medium-sized and small towns and their regions: They must create attractive and contemporary conditions for people, culture and business and set out on the path to becoming the city or region of the future.

Fraunhofer Future City Solutions meets these challenges. Our mission is to enable small and medium-sized cities in particular to benefit from intelligent, digital solutions. We fulfill this mission with a tailored range of support services - from strategic consulting and scientific support for implementation projects to the selection of the right software and hardware. 

Our partners include manufacturers and suppliers, infrastructure operators and mobility service providers, as well as cities, municipalities and public utilities.mWe draw our scientific expertise and implementation competence from more than ten years of experience in the field of industrial automation.  

A key asset for fulfilling our mission is our location - the IoT real lab Lemgo Digital as an open innovation and test platform for the digital transformation of municipalities. A variety of proven IoT solutions in the areas of mobility, attractive city center and environment have already been created there, which can be adapted by other municipalities.
